ABSTRACT

This work has as maim target to evaluate and compare the shear bond between two metal alloys (Ni-Cr and Ni-Cr-Be) cemented to teeth with four different luting agents ( Panavia Ex, Enforce, Conspan and Vivadent) through a shearing test. Forty cilinders of 6 mm hight and 4 mm in diameter have undergone a jet treatment and have been cemented to the surface of forty teeth with had had their dentin previously hollowed in 1.0 mm. The test specimens were divided into four groups of ten so that if could be tested each one of the cements, and, in turn, each group was divided into two other groups of five in order to vary the alloys. After cementation, according to manufactures directions, the test specimens were kept during seven days under a 100% relative humidity. Following this period the shearing force tests took place. The results were statistically analised leading us to conclusion there is no significative difference among the luting agents and metal alloys when considering the union power.
